USB-C needs more than a connector

A USB-C socket may carry video, serve a USB hub, charge a device or handle maintenance. For video, look for DisplayPort Alt Mode, Thunderbolt or an explicit USB-C video input in the model specifications.

Check charging wattage separately. A display with low-power USB-C may accept video while leaving a powerful laptop dependent on its own charger. Compare the monitor's power delivery with your laptop's documented charging requirements.

Check modes rather than version numbers alone

HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 labels do not by themselves tell you every supported resolution and frequency. Read the input-specific timing information, bandwidth limits and compression requirements for the exact model.

A KVM switch is also a separate feature. If you want a keyboard and mouse to follow your selected computer, check which upstream USB connections and input assignments the manual requires.

A useful checkout checklist

Match the model number, confirm the desired resolution and refresh mode over your chosen input, check the included cables and verify charging power. Unknown connection details remain unconfirmed in the catalog.
