Start with your normal applications

Consider how much of your day is spent with fixed toolbars, taskbars and repeated window layouts. Read the manufacturer's care instructions and burn-in terms for the model. There is no fixed number of hours that guarantees protection from burn-in.

If possible, inspect text in your usual applications at the scaling you plan to use. A larger monitor at the same resolution changes the physical pixel size. A 4K specification alone does not establish text quality.

Check the desk setup

Compare stand adjustment, screen curvature and viewing distance. For a laptop desk, verify USB-C video, charging wattage and whether the display has the USB ports or KVM you need. A video cable alone may leave you using a separate charger.

For color work, look for documented hardware calibration, supported workflows and the color spaces your work requires. Manufacturer gamut figures are not measurements from our own testing.

Keep the buying decision specific

Choose a model for its complete feature set. A high-refresh gaming OLED and a reference display with an integrated calibration workflow serve different needs, even when both have a 4K OLED panel.
