Choose a mode for the task

A 4K mode can suit detailed desktop work and games where image detail matters. A lower-resolution high-frequency mode can suit competitive games. The choice depends on the exact supported pairings and what your computer can output.

Keep the tradeoff visible. For example, the ASUS PG32UCDP documents 4K at 240Hz and Full HD at 480Hz. Those are separate choices, rather than a 4K 480Hz claim.

Read the timing and switching instructions

Check whether each mode requires a particular input, graphics capability, compression setting or monitor option. Read how scaling and screen-size simulation work in the model's manual before assuming that a reduced mode uses the full panel in the way you expect.

How the catalog treats it

Refresh-rate filters use the maximum at native resolution. A 4K 240Hz monitor with a Full HD 480Hz mode therefore appears under 240Hz, while its faster reduced-resolution mode is shown separately.
